Our commitments

Efficiency

To meet our objectives, buyers and prescriptors commit to:shake hands

  • Monitoring the opportunities offered by market suppliers;
  • Stimulating competition;
  • Ensuring transparent, ethical and equal treatment to suppliers;
  • Obtaining the various propositions from suppliers likely to improve the cost of the acquisition and quality of purchase;
  • Negotiating the technical and commercial propositions;
  • Improving the procurement process and the drawing up of contracts in order to reduce management costs.

Safety and reliability of our supply

Eurotunnel organises the safety and reliabilty of provisions and goods purchased.

  • Each contract defines the levels of performance to be reached in terms of quality, safety and sustainability.
  • Eurotunnel carries out a longitudinal follow up of the performance of its main suppliers.
  • Progress action plans are put in place with the main suppliers.

Ethics

The suppliers selected by Eurotunnel must respect Eurotunnel procedures. The parties which carry out procurement commit themselves to strictly respecting these procedures and the ethical issues linked to procurement. In particular this means the application of the company's regulatory texts on procurement (European Directive 2007-17– ruling of 06/06/2005 and the decree 2005-13.08 of 20/10/2005).

Ensuring the traceability of procurement acts:

  • The selection and evaluation of suppliers is carried out based on pre-defined and clear criteria;
  • Eurotunnel is committed to respecting the confidential character of information provided by the suppliers.

Sustainable development

The Channel Tunnel and its rail transport system have intrinsic advantages which ensure that Eurotunnel’s carbon emissions are restricted to a very low level. Eurotunnel is committed to a sustainable development and aims to build on its green credentials.

Sustainable development

Consolidated in 2007 and now made public, the calculation of carbon emissions by independent experts confirms that Eurotunnel is by far the most environmentally friendly cross-Channel operator. The recent change in the electrical power supply to the catenary further improves this performance.

Strong business growth in 2007 and the launch of a series of ambitious projects have not diminished Eurotunnel’s commitment to control costs – in fact, the opposite is true. In achieving this, the Group has been developing tight partnerships with its suppliers and outsourcers, while also taking the environmental aspects of tenders into consideration.

Committed to sustainable development, Eurotunnel will now involve suppliers and sub-contractors in its environmental initiatives and has developped a performance evaluation table to ensure this. An integral part of its supplier tender offer procedure, the table is taken into consideration when selecting suppliers.
