1 Only passengers using Eurostar to cross the Channel are included in this table, thus excluding journeys between
Paris-Calais and Brussels-Lille.

Since commercial services started progressively from May 1994, around 247 million passengers have travelled through the Channel Tunnel, i.e. the equivalent to 3 times the total population of Germany.
The frequentation figures include passengers travelling onboard Eurotunnel Shuttles by cars, campervans, motorcycles, coaches or trucks as well as on Eurostar trains going through the Channel Tunnel. The above figure can be broken down into 144 million passengers on Eurotunnel Shuttles and 103 million passengers on Eurostar.
This represents an average of more than 46,000 passengers travelling through the Channel Tunnel each day of 2009.
Since the start of commercial Truck Shuttle service in July 1994, Eurotunnel has carried more than 15 million trucks, an equivalent of 194 million tonnes of freight goods, i.e. placed end-to-end these would circle the Earth over 7 times.
To these volumes, we must add over 30 million tonnes of freight carried on rail freight trains through the Channel Tunnel since June 1994.
These represents in total 224 million tonnes of freight transported through the Tunnel.
