The Channel Tunnel has been designed to be one of the safest transport systems. However, like other forms of transport, it allows the carriage of a wide variety of goods classified as 'hazardous', subject to strict regulations.
Drivers arriving at Eurotunnel terminals are required to present the necessary documentation to a Dangerous Goods Controller at the 'ADR Regulated Goods' Control Point building. Once the documentation and the vehicle have been checked, the agent will issue a label which displays a reference number for the vehicle transit. The label must be placed in a visible position on the windscreen and not removed until the vehicle has left the destination terminal at the end of its journey.
The goods are still subject to possible Customs or Police examinations, which may take place for any vehicles transiting the system.
Eurotunnel will accept, restrict or refuse goods on the basis of ADR definitions and details of those goods accepted (including conditions such as quantities and packaging) can be obtained by contacting our Freight commercial team or by following the link below.
